Lots of information, do’s, don’ts and helpful hints – any questions please just ask
Keeping safe – Please ensure that you inform a member of staff if your child has had an accident resulting in any marks to the body before a pre-school session, this will be recorded and will enable staff to know what has happened before and during a session so there is no confusion as to when an accident has happened. Likewise, please inform a member of staff if your child has been given any medication before a session so it can be noted down and passed on in case of an emergency.
Keeping Healthy – We provide water in a bottle for your child to drink during the session (Squash etc is acceptable for lunch time). Please limit the amount of food provided in your child’s lunch, some children are bringing in 2 or 3 packets of crisps, numerous chocolate bars etc and they are getting upset when they are unable to eat it all – either because they are full or because we have run out of time. We return all uneaten food in your child’s lunchbox so you can see what has been eaten. Please cut up items such as grapes and cherry tomatoes to minimise the risk of your child choking.
ALLERGIES – Due to allergies within the group we must insist that you do not bring in foods which include peanuts - such as peanut butter, fruit and nut bars etc – however, items that ‘may contain nuts’ are fine. We also stipulate that children do not bring in egg products such as egg sandwiches, scotch eggs etc, however, items that contain cooked eggs such as cakes etc are fine.
Illness – Children MUST stay home for a minimum of 48 hours after any bout of sickness or diarrhoea – this is for any bout of sickness no matter how minor. We also ask that if your child requires antibiotics that they stay home for at least 24 hours after starting the course. If your child requires antibiotics to be given while at pre-school you will be asked to complete a permission form first and these can only be given if they are provided in original packaging with your child’s prescription label on. Children must not attend if they have been given paracetamol etc or if they have a temperature.
Smooth running of sessions
Collection of children. Please make sure you are on time collecting children, not only is it unsettling for children to be collected late, but it also effects the smooth running of a session when a member of staff is taken up sitting with them until carers collect. However, if you are running late on the odd occasion please give us a call to let us know you will be late.
Fees
Fees MUST be paid within 14 days of receiving your invoice, however it is possible to pay weekly but you MUST arrange this with Tammy or Jo and we MUST receive a regular weekly payment – if this does not happen, we will enforce our ‘Payment of fees policy’ which includes charging a late payment fee and ultimately you risk losing your child’s place with us. Wherever possible please put fees in an envelope labelled with your child’s name and the amount enclosed and hand it in at the beginning of the session – a receipt and any change will be handed to you at the end of the session.
Please remember that fees must be paid whether your child attends or not, this can either be paid in cash or by online bank transfer – we no longer accept cheques.
Birthdays
We are often asked if children can bring treats in on their birthday to share with friends, and the answer is yes of course. Due to the allergies listed above though, we must ask that anything you bring in is shop bought so the list of ingredients is clear for us to see. If children bring in cakes, cookies etc then they can enjoy them with their friends at snack time. If they bring in sweets, then we will ask them to give them out at the end of the session for friends to take home.
